FAQs
At Janine Jewels, we believe jewellery is more
than an accessory; it's a wearable piece of art. Our founder, Sabrina, has
honed her skills under the tutelage of renowned Swiss jewellers, acquiring an
exceptional understanding of the craft.
What truly sets Janine Jewels apart is
Sabrina's ability to marry this expertise with her artistic background. This
unique combination allows us to create innovative pieces imbued with creative
soul. Let's delve deeper into what makes Janine Jewels genuinely unique:
Unique Design Philosophy
Inspiration and Creative Process
At Janine Jewels, each piece of jewellery is a
work of art inspired by a customer's story or by a unique gemstone. My name is
Sabrina, and I am the founder and creative force behind the brand. I draw
inspiration from the world and its stories. I believe that jewellery creates
connection, and it's a vehicle for the expression of love.
Signature Style
Janine Jewels's distinctive style is edgy,
characterized by clean lines, intricate details, and splashes of colour.
Whether it's a statement necklace, a pair of earrings, or an engagement ring,
every piece reflects my vision of design and craftsmanship.
Craftsmanship Excellence
Materials and Techniques
I spare no expense when sourcing the finest
materials for my creations. Every component, from gemstones to high-quality
metals, is carefully selected to ensure durability, brilliance, and sustainability. My ability to combine traditional and contemporary techniques
gives each piece something extra. I take sustainability very seriously! I
source my materials from reputable casting houses in Canada with whom I've had
a relationship for many years, and many of my boutique pieces have been created
using certified recycled gold. My natural gemstones are equally sourced by local dealers who have vetted their suppliers and are very particular about whom they source from. I don't feel comfortable putting an ethically sourced label on my gemstones because it's a term that is loosely thrown around. Still, my suppliers are local individuals with high standards and travel the world to work with small family-owned businesses to source their materials.
Attention to Detail
What sets Janine Jewels apart is its unwavering commitment to perfection. I have spent many years learning different facets of the jewellery industry, such as design, CAD (computer-aided design),
high-jewellery fabrication, and stone setting, to understand and control every aspect of the fabrication process and deliver the best jewels possible.
Personalized Approach
Client Collaboration
Unlike mass-produced jewelry brands, Janine Jewels offers a bespoke experience tailored to each client's unique tastes and preferences. From the initial consultation to the final delivery, I guide my clients through the design process, ensuring that I bring their vision to life.

Superior Quality Control
Inspection Process
At Janine Jewels, quality is non-negotiable. Every piece undergoes rigorous inspection and testing to ensure that it meets the brand's exacting standards of excellence and guarantees authenticity and longevity.

Janine Jewels: A Brand with a Difference
In a crowded marketplace dominated by trends and mass production, Janine Jewels stands out as a beacon of authenticity, creativity, and craftsmanship. With a commitment to excellence, a passion for innovation, and a dedication to personalized service, Janine Jewels continues to redefine the art of fine jewelry and inspire generations to come. I am also proud that all my pieces are made in Canada.
Step 1: Fill out the custom design
form. I love collaborating with clients, listening to their stories,
and getting a feel for their aesthetics. Together, we will create a piece of art that holds personal meaning and will be passed down to the ones you love. To get started, fill out the custom inquiry form with as much detailed information and inspirational photos as possible.
Step 2: Book a design
consultation. Once you submit the inquiry form, you can book a free virtual or in-person consultation to discuss your piece. Here, we will let our
imaginations take off and discuss possibilities based on your style, preferences, budget, and lifestyle. This meeting will ensure we are creatively aligned and a good fit.
Step 3: Stone sourcing and design stage. Together, we will establish the project details, budget, and
timeline. At this stage, I will source stones (or design around your existing stones). Once you've picked that perfect stone, all the pieces are in place to provide you with a quote. Within 2-3 weeks of the first deposit, I will sketch out three ideas based on our discussions to create the perfect design for you to choose from.
Step 4: Jewellery Production
Stage After choosing your design, your piece will be modelled in 3D and start taking form. You'll receive CAD images to review and fine-tune the design before moving on to the casting process, transforming your model into a
working metal model. During this step, I clean, assemble & set the stones in your creation!
Step 5: The final piece. This
is my favourite part of the process—showing you your beautiful creation that
has come to life! The final balance is due before delivery of your piece or upon meeting in person at the studio. As a jeweller, one of the most rewarding parts of my journey is collaborating and helping others bring their vision to
life. I am always touched by the stories of love that bring people together through jewellery design.
When clients bring their designs, and I can turn their vision into wearable pieces, it feels incredibly gratifying. What sets Janine Jewels apart is the completely tailored design experience. We welcome your creative input. Here's how collaboration works with customer-provided designs:
- Share your vision: We encourage you to bring your
ideas to the table! Sketches, mood boards, or inspirational photos are all helpful. - Refine together: We'll work with you to refine your concept, ensuring it aligns with functionality and production feasibility.
- Expertise at your fingertips: We'll provide expert advice on materials, construction, and any potential hurdles to consider.
- Your design, our execution: Once finalized, we'll translate your vision into a beautiful, functional product.
We use the finest materials to create our jewellery, ensuring elegance and longevity. Here's a closer look:
- Metals: We work with various precious metals, including" Platinum (Pt 950), 22K, 19K,18K, 14K gold, Silver and Titanium. Metals are carefully selected for their strength and hypoallergenic properties.
- Gemstones: We source high-quality gemstones from reputable vendors with
whom we've had a relationship for many years. We work with various gemstones, each with its unique beauty and significance. My personal preferences for longevity are diamonds, sapphires, spinels, and garnets. When I select stones for my boutique collection, I don't just see a stone; I feel a connection with it on a deep, intuitive level. This personal touch is what sets our jewelry apart. - Unique Elements: We thrive on unique challenges. Suppose you have a particular material that holds sentimental value. In that case, we are more than willing to do some R&D and work with it. Your unique treasure can become a
one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry that you'll cherish forever. Customization: Any piece on our website can be customized. It is possible to have it in a different colour or with another gemstone! - Laser engraving: We can customize pieces using laser and hand engraving. We can add a name or a special phrase. It offers a personal touch.
Do you offer ethical and
sustainable jewelry options?
Absolutely! We're committed to creating beautiful jewelry with a conscience. Here's how we ensure ethical and sustainable practices:
- Selective Sourcing: We meticulously select our partners, prioritizing wholesalers who share our values of not harming the planet and the humans who live on it. Sabrina has developed close relationships with local Canadian suppliers who source their gemstones from small family businesses in Asia and Africa.
- Estate Gemstones: Also known as post-consumer recycled gemstones, these are pre-loved diamonds and coloured stones removed from estate jewellery. These pre-loved treasures offer a unique and sustainable way to add a touch of history to your piece.
- Ethically Sourced Metals: We have access to ethically sourced metals. This includes mines that prioritize worker safety, minimize environmental impact, and avoid conflict materials. Please send us an email atgetinspired@janinejewels.com for further details.
- Recycled Metals: We love post-consumer recycled metals, which give new life to outdated materials and reduce our environmental footprint. Most of our boutique pieces are made with certified recycled gold.
- Lab-grown Brilliance: We offer lab-grown gemstones as a sustainable alternative to mined stones. These gems boast the same beauty and sparkle without the environmental impact of traditional mining.
How long does it take to create a custom piece?
The creation time for your custom piece will depend on a few factors, but we'll keep you informed throughout the process! Here's a general timeframe:
- Design Collaboration (1-2 weeks): We'll work closely with you to refine your vision, considering your ideas, desired materials, and any special requests. This may involve sketches, 3D models, and adjustments to ensure complete satisfaction.
- Crafting Expertise (2-6 weeks): Once the design is finalized, our skilled artisans meticulously bring your piece to life. The intricacy of the design and the availability of materials will influence this timeframe.
Clear Communication: We'll provide you with regular updates on the progress of your piece, so you'll always know where things stand.
In most cases, you can
expect your custom creation to be ready within 4-8 weeks. However, for particularly intricate designs or if sourcing specific materials requires additional time, we'll communicate this upfront.
We understand the excitement of receiving your one-of-a-kind piece. We are committed to delivering it within a reasonable timeframe while maintaining our high standards of quality.
We want you to be delighted with your Janine Jewels purchase. Return return eligibility details are here refund-policy
Absolutely! Open communication is critical to creating a piece you'll love. Here's how we approach design revisions:
- Three Initial Sketches: We start with three design sketches, each one a unique interpretation of your vision. Your feedback and preferences at this stage are invaluable in shaping the direction of the design.
- Refining Your Vision: Minor adjustments are complimentary during the design phase. We want to ensure you're completely satisfied with the direction before proceeding.
- One CAD Design: Once a sketch is finalized, we'll create a detailed CAD (computer-aided design) rendering, which provides a realistic visualization of your piece.
- Detailed Communication: Throughout the process, we'll discuss any potential cost implications of significant design changes after the CAD is approved. This ensures transparency and avoids surprises.
- Considering Complexity: Upfront discussions about potential adjustments are crucial for highly intricate designs or those requiring sourcing unique materials.
After the initial sketches are presented, a 50% deposit is required. This deposit covers the design work and ensures a commitment to move forward. As custom designs are unique creations, the deposit is non-refundable.
By working collaboratively and keeping communication open, we can ensure your custom piece reflects your vision beautifully. Don't hesitate to ask questions or provide feedback at any stage!
Resizing or making minor alterations to a completed piece may be possible. The feasibility depends on the design and materials used.
Here's a breakdown:
- Resizing: We can often accommodate resizing requests for rings and some bracelets. However, the complexity of the design and the type of metal will influence this. Please note: Depending on the complexity of the work required, resizing or alterations may incur a fee.
- Alterations: Minor adjustments, such as tightening a clasp or smoothing a sharp edge, are absolutely possible; just contact us for an appointment. More extensive alterations require a more involved process and could potentially impact the original design.
Here's what we recommend:
- Contact us: If you're interested in resizing or altering a piece, contact us at getinspired@janinejewels.com! We'll assess the feasibility and provide you with a quote.
- Consider before purchase: If you anticipate needing a resize, selecting a more straightforward design or a slightly adjustable style might be ideal.
We understand that your needs may change sometimes, and we're here to help! Let's work together to find the best solution for your specific piece.
Taking proper care of your custom piece ensures it continues to sparkle for years! Here are some simple tips:
Gentle Cleansing:
- For routine cleaning, use mild dish soap and baking soda diluted in warm water.
- Gently brush the jewellery with a soft-bristled toothbrush, focusing on areas between settings and detailed areas.
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water and pat dry with a soft microfiber cloth.
- Mindful Wear: To safeguard the structural integrity of your jewels, we recommend removing them before activities like gardening, weightlifting, or anything particularly strenuous. This will help prevent any accidental damage, warping out of shape and protecting gemstones.
- Storage Savvy: When not wearing your jewelry, store it in a cool, dry place. A fabric-lined jewelry box, pouch, or plastic baggie is ideal. Avoid storing multiple pieces together; try separating them in compartments or separate plastic baggies, as metal and
gemstones can scratch each other. - Protect from Harsh Chemicals: Limit exposure to harsh chemicals like chlorine, cleaning products, and cosmetics. Remove your jewellery before showering, swimming, or applying lotions and perfumes.
- Professional Attention: For deeper cleaning or professional maintenance, we recommend bringing your piece in for servicing every 1-2
years so that we can perform a thorough inspection and cleaning and ensure your piece remains in pristine condition.
By following these simple steps, you can keep your custom-designed jewelry looking its best and ensure it becomes a cherished heirloom for years.

Creating a custom piece is a collaborative journey, and we want to ensure complete transparency regarding costs. Here's a breakdown of our pricing structure:

Transparency from start to finish: We're committed to clearly understanding costs at every step of the creation process. We aim to build
trust and ensure you feel confident in your investment. By working together openly and collaboratively, we can turn your vision into a stunning, one-of-a-kind piece you'll treasure for years to come.
Absolutely! We understand the importance of adequately valuing your custom creation. A professional appraisal is included for any custom jewellery exceeding $1,000. This detailed document will describe
your piece in full, including:
- Material specifications (metals, gemstones, etc.)
- Design details and craftsmanship
- Replacement value
More than just a document, an appraisal can be a crucial tool for insurance purposes. If you're considering insuring
your custom piece, we strongly advise reaching out to your homeowner's or renter's insurance provider. They can guide you on how to add your jewellery to your existing policy, ensuring it's adequately protected.
Here's why an appraisal is valuable:
- Peace of mind: Knowing the replacement value of your custom piece ensures you're adequately covered in case of loss or damage.
- Insurance eligibility: Most insurance companies require an appraisal for high-value jewellery items.
- Future reference: An appraisal is a detailed record of your piece's specifications, which are valuable for future reference or resale.
Our commitment to you goes beyond creating a
beautiful custom piece. We also provide the necessary documentation to properly
value and protect it. By offering appraisals for qualifying custom pieces,
we ensure you have all the tools to fully appreciate and safeguard your investment.
